COMPANION ANIMAL
COMFORT CARE
DR GEMMA SCHREINER
MA VetMB CHPV MRCVS
Let me start by welcoming you to Companion Animal Comfort Care. I hope this is the first step towards us getting to know each other and the development of a special relationship. Here's a little about me ...

I was born and grew up in the U.K., qualifying from Cambridge University before moving out to South Africa in 2011. Subsequently I have spent time working in welfare, emergency centres and general practice.

Human hospice and palliative care became an area close to my heart and piqued my interest as to whether a similar service could be offered to our companion animals.

The International Association for Animal Hospice and Palliative Care (IAAHPC) was founded in 2009 and has been pioneering this field ever since. In 2018 I undertook the IAAHPC certification in Animal Hospice and Palliative Care, the highest qualification that currently exists in this area.

My hope is through this specialised knowledge I can assist in supporting our four legged companions and their owners with personalised, bond centered, comprehensive comfort care.

I am currently based at Hillside Veterinary Clinic where I offer first opinion in addition to comfort care consultations.

HILLSIDE VETERINARY CLINIC
Dr Duncan Siegfried established Hillside Veterinary Clinic in 2001.

The clinic's mission is to provide high quality, compassionate veterinary care for patients and a supportive and informative environment for clients. This makes it the perfect place from which to offer comfort care.

While Gemma provides the comfort care consultations, the whole team is involved in both the pet and parent's care. From over the phone, to waiting in reception, to the nursing team behind the scenes, we all walk this road together and are dedicated to ensuring your animal's comfort as well as providing you with the support the you need.
